Sonja Wadman, Executive Director

What can we say about Sonja? As the Waltham Land Trust's sole staff member, Sonja is the engine that drives the organization's daily operations and puts our long-range planning into action. In coordinating with the land trust's board members, committees, and a host of volunteers, our events, hikes, walks, cleanups, programs and more to come off without a hitch.

Sonja's background is as strong as her organizing skill set. She received a B.A. in History with an English minor from Tulane University in New Orleans. After twice serving as an AmeriCorps member in California and working in a small city planning department, she earned a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning with an Environmental emphasis from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo.

Sonja worked as a planning and community engagement consultant for several years in Ventura and Sacramento before returning to the East Coast in 2008. After living abroad briefly, Sonja became the WLT’s program director in 2010 and was named Executive Director in October, 2016.

Never an easy job, but Sonja's training, experience and can-do attitude make her perfect for this work. The WLT is extremely fortunate to have her help lead the Waltham Land Trust.
