August 27, 2024
Fourteen birders met at 7:00 a.m. just over the town line at the Sears Land in Weston. WLT member and super birder Michele Grzenda led the group to the heron rookery there. They saw 35 bird species, including an Indigo Bunting, an Eastern bluebird, a Red-tailed hawk, a Gray catbird, Great Blue herons, an Eastern kingbird, a Copper’s hawk, and a chipping sparrow. Check out the entire list here: ebird.org/checklist/S184537327
We thank Michele for sharing her time and experience with us!

Over 60 nature lovers of all ages came to Christ Church for a program with Rick Roth the Snake Man and the Cape Ann Vernal Pool Team . We were introduced to many snakes found in New England and the world. Members of the team walked through the audience with them so everyone could see up close and take photos. Afterwards, brave people who wanted to hold the legless reptiles were given that opportunity. Many thanks to the Waltham Cultural Council for supporting this event!
