Guided Evening Bird Walk, June 17, 2025

It was a misty evening, but 20 bird lovers met at the Sear’s Land in Weston to walk on a trail in the woods towards a large pond that is a heron rookery!
Then we went on the Mass Central Rail Trail to get a different angle of the nests and set up a scope that Westonian Michael Pappone provided.
In total, we saw Wood Ducks, Mallards, Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, an Eastern Wood-Pewee, an Eastern Phoebe, a Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbirds, Blue Jays, a Tufted Titmouse, Tree Swallows, a Barn Swallow, a White-breasted Nuthatch, Gray Catbirds, an Eastern Bluebird, American Robins, American Goldfinches, Chipping Sparrows, Song Sparrows, an Orchard Oriole, Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, Northern Cardinals, and an Indigo Bunting.
Many thanks to our leader, Michele Grzenda!
