The Caterpillar Lab – The Whole Story
April 22, 2021
On April 6th, 2021, Sam Jaffe of The Caterpillar Lab delivered a deep picture into the world of native caterpillars using a combination of live presentation, digital microscope work, slides, and life history image plates. By exploring complex natural history stories involving caterpillars, their host plants, and their predators and parasitoids, the importance of biodiversity was once again revealed. This presentation went beyond the established narratives of bees and butterflies, and will hopefully help guide us further in our efforts to support and promote local biodiversity.

Over 60 nature lovers of all ages came to Christ Church for a program with Rick Roth the Snake Man and the Cape Ann Vernal Pool Team . We were introduced to many snakes found in New England and the world. Members of the team walked through the audience with them so everyone could see up close and take photos. Afterwards, brave people who wanted to hold the legless reptiles were given that opportunity. Many thanks to the Waltham Cultural Council for supporting this event!
