Spring Equinox Walk, March 20, 2021
April 6, 2021
Twenty walkers welcomed Spring with an easy stroll along the Charles River. A juvenile bald eagle soared high above and a swan swam quietly by as we gathered at the Woerd Ave boat launch. Walking through the woods we saw witch hazel and a turtle sunning itself on a log across the way. We checked out informational signs and maps along the Waltham Watch Factory, then took the Riverwalk to Moody Street, where we saw a rare pink footed goose with mallards and Canada geese. We returned via the street sidewalk so we could see the small museum at the front of the Watch Factory, free and open to the public during business hours.

Over 60 nature lovers of all ages came to Christ Church for a program with Rick Roth the Snake Man and the Cape Ann Vernal Pool Team . We were introduced to many snakes found in New England and the world. Members of the team walked through the audience with them so everyone could see up close and take photos. Afterwards, brave people who wanted to hold the legless reptiles were given that opportunity. Many thanks to the Waltham Cultural Council for supporting this event!
