Annual Duck Walk, February 1, 2022
February 1, 2022
After two weather-related postponements, the WLT finally held its Duck Walk on a Tuesday afternoon. 16 participants were instantly rewarded with a bald eagle sighting! It was visible from the Mary Early footbridge, resting high on a tree limb for quite a while--we actually left it and moved on to see common mergansers, bufflehead and ring-necked ducks, plus a male hooded merganser, upstream. Resident Great blue heron, mallards, swans, a black duck, and gulls were also observed. We heard afterwards the eagle has not been seen since our walk, so we're really happy we got it in!

Over 60 nature lovers of all ages came to Christ Church for a program with Rick Roth the Snake Man and the Cape Ann Vernal Pool Team . We were introduced to many snakes found in New England and the world. Members of the team walked through the audience with them so everyone could see up close and take photos. Afterwards, brave people who wanted to hold the legless reptiles were given that opportunity. Many thanks to the Waltham Cultural Council for supporting this event!
