26th Annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup, April 26, 2025

On a very windy Tuesday, WLT ED Sonja Wadman joined DCR Commissioner Arrigo and the leadership of other organizations running the 26th Annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup for a photo near the Hatchshell on the Esplanade. Then on a rainy Saturday, close to 120 people braved the weather to remove litter and invasive plant species from the Charles in Waltham. The largest number of volunteers was based out of Shaw’s, while students from Brandeis and folks from SAME Boston Post Suffolk, the Island Neighborhood, and Scout Troop 250 tackled upriver sections. In total, about 120 bags of refuse and weeds were collected. Many thanks to all who participated, and to Shaw’s/Star, Trader Joe’s, and Hannaford for donating snacks.
