• Prizes will be available for inspection July 19, 5 to 8:30pm, at Lazazzero Park, 7 Shore Road, Waltham. A minimum of 100 tickets will be sold. If the minimum is not reached, ticket buyers may request a refund by calling (781) 893-3355 by August 1, 2008. The value of the prize will be treated as ordinary income to the winner for federal and state income tax purposes; the winner may be required to pre-pay a portion of the tax liability prior to receiving the prize. The Internal Revenue Service takes the position that no portion of the ticket price will qualify as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes. An estimated 50 percent of the ticket price will be used for charitable purposes in the event that only the minimum number of tickets are sold. All proceeds fund operating and program activities of the Waltham Land Trust, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Depositing the ticket or any other material in connection with the raffle in the federal mails is a violation of federal law and may lead to criminal penalties.
