Western Greenway 5K Run/Walk
Help us raise money to build the Western Greenway Trail by participating in this Race for Open Space fundraiser!
Join the fun and sign up to run or walk the Western Greenway Trail
on Sunday, October 4. Now in our fourth year, the fall Race for Open Space is a great way to show your support for the work we do while getting a little exercise.
The course this year will follow last year's route through Beaver Brook North Reservation in North Waltham and Rock Meadow in Belmont.
It will take participants through a variety of habitats, including cattail marshes, meadows, and deep forests. Gather six folks together and compete in the Team Challenge
, where you could be crowned the Western Greenway Trailblazers! As a trail run, the course is challenging
, with roots and rocks along the way, plus a small bridge over Beaver Brook to cross, but you can take your time and still get a prize!
That's because we'll have awards not only for the fastest females and males
in different age categories, but a bunch of extras so anyone who picks up a bib can be a winner!
Entry fee is $25 online, which will shut down on Friday at midnight
. It's $5 more to register in person on Saturday at Playmakers (bib pick up location) between 4-7 pm, or before the race (10:30-11:45 am) at Elsie Turner Field. Folks registered by September 19 will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Visit the Race Around Waltham (RAW) series website
to learn more.
