Celebrate Earth Day a little early on the upriver trails of the Charles between Waltham and Auburndale. This event is co-sponsored with the Newton Conservators.
Greet the day with the sounds of birds long awake on this pre-Earth Day walk. Our neighboring outdoor enthusiasts, the Newton Conservators led by Alison Leary Mooradian and Ted Kuklinski, will hopefully help us identify early spring migrants such as red winged blackbirds, tree swallows, eastern phoebes, yellow rumped, palm and yellow warblers. We may also observe winter ducks, including common mergansers and ring necked ducks, and our resident species, cardinals, blue jays, and tufted titmice in full breeding mode. Other possible sightings: carolina wrens, red bellied woodpeckers and raptors like red tailed and coopers hawks.
