Learn about what Cornelia was like and about Cedar Hill in the late 1800s, and now.

From the 1850s on, the S.D. Warren family acquired land in Waltham. The largest tract was located on both sides of Beaver Street just east of the Lyman Estate lands. This tract, the Warrens’ homestead, was known as Cedar Hill. Upon the death of her mother, Cornelia Warren acquired Cedar Hill and ran a successful farm and dairy operation there. She was a leader in the development of sustainable agriculture with innovative uses of the property. Ever the philanthropist, she instructed her trustees to partition the Cedar Hill estate and give the lands to institutions which would preserve the lands for public education and enjoyment. In spite of changes to ownership of the former Cedar Hill estate, the people of Waltham continue to benefit from her largesse. Learn about what Cornelia was like and about Cedar Hill then, and now. Meet at the Patriots’ Trail Girl Scouts Cedar Hill Campus Conference Room, 265 Beaver Street.
